The Bulkley Valley Farmers’ Market is hosting an outdoor Field to Table Dinner in celebration of a quarter century as economic and social hub for small-scale farmers and producers in the Bulkley Valley. Set for BC Day August 7 at Central Park in Smithers, the four course dinner will showcase local food, local chefs, regional drinks and live music.
“Imagine an open-air dinner party with 200 community members, all of whom are enjoying local food, listening to local music, and celebrating community!” says Field to Table Coordinator Liliana Dragowska. “This is an opportunity to celebrate and give back to our valued customers and community members who have supported this organization over the last 25 years.”
This multi-course dinner will be created by a series of local chefs, each preparing a portion of the dinner, based on what’s in season at the market. Guests will be provided with information on the sources of all food prepared and served during the evening. Tickets are $50 each, with a portion of tickets distributed free throughout the community.
“This event will promote local food producers, artisans and musicians, bringing the greater community of the Bulkley Valley together to celebrate and learn about local food, farming and creativity,” says local baker and BV Farmers’ Market Association Vice-President Meg Roberts. “This is also a way to give back to our community who have put our market on the map as one of the best Farmers’ Markets in BC.”
